Pat Moore Foundation

HOPE AT LAST: WHY OUR DETOX & TREATMENT WORK

Welcome to Pat Moore Foundation
Located in Beautiful Orange County, California

Detox and Treatment for Alcohol and Drug Addictions.
Specializing in Suboxone and Subutex Approved Detox Programs for Heroin, Opiates, Prescription Drugs, Methadone, Cocaine, Alcohol and Other Addictive Substances.
The drug and alcohol detox and treatment programs at Pat Moore Foundation are nationally-recognized, reasonably-priced residential treatment and drug detox alternatives for men and women.
For nearly twenty-five years we have been empowering men and women caught in the life-shattering cycle of substance abuse and addiction. Through personal experience, we know that chemical dependency and alcoholism are both chronic and progressive illnesses. The disease disrupts all areas of a person's life and impacts the family and loved ones in a contagious fashion.
Our alcohol and drug detox and residential treatment programs are licensed and certified by The State of California. We provide medically managed and non-medical detoxification and primary residential treatment. Our individual homes are on a unique co-ed campus where we offer gender specific treatment. We are located in the city of Costa Mesa, in Orange County, Southern California, close to Newport Beach and Huntington Beach, minutes from the John Wayne Airport, and only an hour from Los Angeles and San Diego.
Our belief is that lasting recovery requires a long-term investment. We invest in our residents as much as they invest in their new life. We are with them for the long haul, and will work with them and their families though the challenging, yet exciting stages of a rewarding life in recovery.
Please call us, day or night, at (888) 377-2129. We want to hear from you...we're here to help.
Note: Pat Moore Foundation offers medically managed detox for opiate detoxification from Heroin, Vicodin, Oxycontin, Codeine and Methadone. Our physicians utilize a wide range of pharmaceuticals including Naltrexone and Suboxone to medically manage a fast, pain-free start to withdrawal. All medical services are administered by medical professionals, which are facilitated and operated solely under the jurisdiction of a separate medical corporation.

Transformations Treatment Center

An Overview of Our Traditional Treatment Program

Every expert on drug addiction rehabilitation insists that therapy is a necessary component of achieving sobriety and staying clean. Participating in both individual and group therapy is an essential and substantial part of any traditional treatment program. At Transformations Treatment Center our therapists are highly trained and dedicated to helping each person understand the psychological roots of their addiction.
  • Individual Therapy – Individuals participate in one-on-one counseling sessions with skilled clinicians who help each person gain the knowledge, tools, and strength to achieve sustained recovery.Substance Abuse Treatment
  • Group Therapy – People work together to build a safe community in which one can talk about an addiction and the recovery process. In group therapy, feelings, defenses, and changes are addressed. In small intimate groups each person learns how to express emotions openly and to trust others. In a short time, everyone begins to feel comfortable, safe and relaxed knowing that they are surrounded with people who are going through similar experiences.
While we certainly help you overcome your physical addiction, we are committed to helping you overcome your psychological addiction as well. Here is a brief outline of some of the topics that are covered during the course of treatment:
  • Addiction / Alcoholism – Individuals learn about the disease, attributing factors, characteristics of dependency, classifications of drugs, and physical and mental withdrawal.
  • Recovery Dynamics – Individuals learn the stages of recovery, the origin of 12-step fellowships, and understand powerlessness and unmanageability.Subtance Abuse Recovery
  • Family Dynamics & Roles – The focus is on the individual understanding communication, emotions, codependency, and enabling behaviors. Each persons learns to take responsibility or be accountable for the ways his/or her behaviors have damaged the family system.
  • Relapse Prevention – Individuals learn about the models of recovery, relapse warning signs, daily relapse prevention plan, and the analysis of triggers.
  • Changes In Recovery – Individuals create a strategy to facilitate change using the Transtheoretical Model of Change. The focus is on communication, effective refusals, relationships, managing thoughts and emotions, developing an action plan, and finding social support systems.
Individuals in the Tradition substance abuse program participate in group therapy several times daily. The following are how groups in the Traditional Program are differentiated:
  • Traditional Groups – This is a group focusing on the fundamentals of AA/NA meetings and the process of working the steps. The goal is to meet people where they are in this process and familiarize them with AA/NA program.  Each person is given an opportunity to disclose their current work on steps 1, 2, and possibly step 3, and any difficulty they may be having. Each person can also work though ambivalence about going to meetings and getting a sponsor as recommended for aftercare.
  • Process Groups – These are psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy groups in which some are separated by gender. Topics in process groups include processing and coping with emotions, positive interpersonal communication, projection and identification, social anxiety, codependency, and honesty.Substance Abuse Treatment
  • Mood Disorder Groups – These are interactive psycho-educational groups for the purpose of educating individuals about dual diagnosis. The goal is for individuals to understand and be able to better deal with the presented disorder(s). Also, the individual’s own strengths, resources and coping skills are reinforced, in order to avoid relapse and contribute to their own health and wellness on a long-term basis. Some topics include symptoms of mood disorders (i.e. Depression and Bipolar, as well as other DSM-IV disorders commonly associated with substance abuse), the effect of alcohol and drug abuse on brain chemistry, and recommended behavioral solutions to increase coping skills.
  • Life Skills Groups: These are practical and applicable groups that help people begin a transformed life or help those who just need to get back on track. Topics include Nutrition & Physical Exercise, Employment & Finances, Conflict Resolution, Decision- Making Skills, Stress Management/Relaxation, Goal Setting, Time Management, Support Systems, and Work & Family Life.

An Overview of Our Christian Treatment Program

Transformations - God Size Changes
Christian Substance Abuse TreatmentStudies have shown that people who choose a faith-based approach to addiction recovery are more likely to avoid relapse and stay sober. The Christian Program at Transformations Treatment Center is composed of professionally trained clinicians who are committed Christians. Individuals in treatment and their families can be assured that our treatment will not conflict with Scripture. Our staff is dedicated to providing Christ-centered counseling and the integration of sound psychological practices in the recovery process. We provide individualized care and group therapy to treat the entire person physically, psychologically, and spiritually.
  • Individual Therapy – Individuals participate in one-on-one sessions with committed Christian clinicians. Each person is presented Biblically and psychologically sound guidance throughout the recovery process.
  • Group Therapy – Participating in group therapy allows an individual to develop new ways of relating to themselves, others, and God; as well as learn how a supportive community is key in relapse prevention. In our Christian groups we provide both sound Biblical teachings integrated with solid clinical practices.
In addition to participating in our traditional treatment groups (i.e. Life Skills, Relapse Prevention, Addiction Education etc),we offer a substantial curriculum of Christ-centered groups.  Here is a brief outline of some of the Christian topics that are covered during the course of treatment:
  • Life Stories / Christian Testimonies – Individuals are assisted in sharing their Christian life testimony and the redemptive power that can be found in their brokenness.
  • Christian Spiritual Disciplines – Individuals learn how a disciplined spiritual life can lead to freedom.  A few topics covered are prayer, meditation, study, submission, confession, and service.
    • Curriculum adapted from John and Nancy Ortberg’s Spiritual Disciplines For Ordinary People
  • Christian Substance Abuse Treatment ProgramBoundaries, A Christian Perspective – Individuals understand unhealthy boundaries in their lives and apply Biblical principles to setting reasonable boundaries in order to have a more fulfilling life.
    • Curriculum adapted from Dr. Cloud and Townsend’sBoundaries: When to Say Yes, How to Say No
  • A Christ-centered 12-Step Process – Individuals are helped to successfully integrate Biblical principles and the traditional 12-step process.
  • Lessons Learned from Biblical Characters – Lessons are learned from the narratives of different Biblical characters, including overcoming dire circumstances, forgiveness, grace, and trusting God.
  • Addiction and Grace – Each person explores the physical, spiritual, psychological, and moral components of addiction and the addictive cycle from a Biblical perspective.
The following are offered to help individuals make the most of their time in the Christian treatment program:
  • Christian Substance AbuseCelebrate Recovery / Traditional 12-Step Meetings – Individuals participate in Celebrate Recovery associations at local churches to fellowship and celebrate God’s healing power through Jesus Christ in our lives. Each person is also required to take part in traditional 12-step recovery groups.  Celebrate recovery and other Christ-centered support groups are simply not as wide spread as traditional 12-step groups (AA, NA etc).  It is vital for successful recovery that our Christians in treatment feel comfortable recognizing their "higher-power” is Jesus Christ and be able to express their faith as part of the traditional model of recovery.
  • Inner Healing– Many people in treatment have a history of trauma and/or deep emotional pain. The goal of theophostic prayer is to lead a person to Jesus for healing and allow Him to reveal the truth to the suffering person. Through the process of prayer, we invite the Holy Spirit to support the healing of these past memories. This is offered but not required as part of treatment.
  • Bibliotherapy – This is an expressive therapy that uses the content of books, poetry and other written works as therapeutic practice. This literature includes suggested scriptures, books that focus on spiritual formation as well as psycho-education topics related to addiction.
  • Church – Each person is provided the opportunity to attend weekly Church services. According to the research of Kendler, M.D., and Myers, M.S. from the American Psychiatric Association, church attendance is one of the most consistent predictors of abstinence from substance use.  We believe that Christian community is one of the best ways to help prevent relapse and support people in living a transformed life. We currently attend the Avenue Church. You may check out this ministry at http://theavenuechurchdelray.com/.
  • Daily Quite Time – Every person allocated time daily for reflections, prayer, devotions and study.
  • Communion – We offer communion bi-monthly to our staff and to those in treatment.
  • Baptism – We offer baptism to those who accept Christ as their Lord and Savior. Family is encouraged to attend.

SOBA DETOX

IMG_0618

Detoxification is appropriate for individuals currently abusing alcohol or drugs that require medical monitoring throughout withdrawal. We create individual detoxification protocols for each client based on a detailed medical assessment by the Treatment Team, including independent physicians specializing in addiction. Detoxification typically occurs over a three to seven day period, however the period varies by individual depending on the quantity and length of use. Treatment includes daily medical examination, psychiatric and psychosocial assessments, medication management, and participation in psycho-educational groups on the physiology of withdrawal, relapse, recovery and the Twelve Step process. Soba Living’s detox facility is licensed by the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs.

RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT

DSC_0128

Once detoxification is complete, residential treatment programs are available for individuals that would like 24-hour care at our facility. The program includes a treatment plan with individual and group therapy, psycho-educational groups on relapse, recovery and Choice Theory, and chemical dependency counseling. Experiential therapy through outings outside of the facility, accompanied by an experienced member of our Staff. Individuals in the residential program also receive medication management and a supportive sober environment in which to reside. Residential treatment is particularly effective in early recovery to those with co-occurring disorders. With the assistance of the treatment team, individuals can simultaneously address the primary disease of addiction while receiving treatment for co-occurring disorders, such as depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and bipolar disorder.

OUTPATIENT

soba-location-shots-july-2007-2

The road to recovery is taken one step at a time. Some clients begin their rehabilitation as a client in our residential treatment program and continue in our outpatient program after discharge. Others may be able to use our outpatient services for their entire course of therapy. In either case, our outpatient program provides a full range of comprehensive services that help clients return to their lives with independence and confidence.
Successful candidates most frequently include people who are employed, live with a family, and demonstrate a history of medical stability. Another very important element is the ability to abstain from alcohol and drugs for at least two consecutive weeks prior to admission into the Malibu Recovery Center Outpatient Program.

Individuals who have not been able to achieve this consecutive abstinence are usually more appropriate for our residential services or our sober living community, where structure and stability make early recovery more obtainable.

Family members also play an important role in our Outpatient Program. Families attend a separate counseling group where they learn what addiction is and how they can support their family member’s recovery. All clients and family members are linked with the Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and/or Al-Anon communities. Most family counseling services are included in the basic cost of the Outpatient Program.
